There are numerous hotels, bed and breakfasts, and vacation rentals in Taormina, so many that it can be hard to choose where to stay. In our most recent trip to Taormina we stayed at Hotel Villa Paradiso and it was wonderful. This hotel definitely makes the short list of best places to stay in Taormina, here’s why…
We arrived much later and were greeted by the friendly staff, they were fluent in both Italian and English, and even offered to take our bags to our room themselves. Like most European hotels, the stairs are narrow, and the elevator is small. Nothing to complain about since this is typical when staying abroad.
The Room
We stayed in a King suite on the second floor of the hotel, although we would have liked to be up a bit higher, the views from even such a low level were spectacular. Our room faced to the south, so every morning we woke up to gorgeous views our Mt. Etna, and Villagonia. The balconies were just the perfect size for two people.
Location
Hotel Villa Paradiso is in the perfect location, its less than a 5 minute walk to the Main Street, Corso Umberto, but just out of the way enough for a quiet stay. We couldnt imagine trying to get a good nights sleep staying in the middle of everything. It’s located right next to the Taormina Gardens , a great place to have a cup of coffee and go for a morning stroll, maybe even some yoga.
Transportation
If you are relying on public transport, Villa Paradiso is only a 12 minute walk to the interbus terminal. From there, you’ll find a list of destinations and times. I highly recommend using the interbus to get around, its a lot cheaper compared to renting a car, and if you plan to explore the rest of Sicily, chances are there’s a stop close by. Here is a guide to the interbus, as well as times and destinations.
Dining & Amenities at Hotel Villa Paradiso
One of the reasons we stayed at a hotel is because we don’t like having to get up and rush to go find breakfast. Villa Paradiso serves a fully stocked breakfast every morning with traditional meats, cheeses, and pastries. Our favorite part of breakfast was their espresso machine they had AMAZING coffee. Also, its worth mentioning that their breakfast area is on the top floor of the hotel, starting your day off with breakfast and a great view.
In the evening, the dining area turns into a restaurant. We never got a chance to sit down and eat, but we ordered room service a few times, and it didn’t disappoint. They also have a full bar and make great Aperol Spritz.
Summary
Overall, we rate the Villa Paradiso 5 out of 5 stars. For the delightful treatment from the time we arrived, until we left. Staff at the hotel was more than helpful in answering any questions we had, they even helped us book our tour of Mt. Etna. If you plan on visiting Taormina and want a hotel that boasts great hospitality, amazing food, and a perfect location, Hotel Villa Paradiso is the place.
